Liverpool Music Week Returns Bigger and Better Than Ever

Before we go on to talk about how absolutely insane the line up for this years LMW is, let's take a moment to appreciate the amount of incredible bands that have been brought to Merseyside this year. We've already had Swans, Thurston Moore, The Flaming Lips, Fat White Family, Echo and the Bunnymen, Spiritualized and Anton Newcombe thanks to Sound City, LIMF and psych fest, but as we fade into autumn there's no shortage of great bands entertaining Merseyside crowds. In fact, in Liverpool Music Week we may have the strongest collection of acts we've had all year. With post-rock titans Godspeed You! Black Emperor bringing their deafening yet beautiful, hypnotic live show to the city as well as appearances from the likes of LA noise freaks HEALTH and daydreamers Best Coast at my favourite venue in the world, The Kazimier, LMW is looking stronger than ever. And there's still more to be announced.

Mogwai and The Black Lips last year as well as a wealth of (then) rising talents such as Eagulls and Hookworms would seem impossible to top, but somehow they've done it. Also standing out on the line up are Liverpool's own psych pop darlings Stealing Sheep and a rare headline show from London kraut-toyers Telegram. The event ends on Halloween with an unbelievably  great freak fest line up of Deerhunter, Gang of Four, LA Priest and a bunch more.

The excellent and often underestimated Shipping Forecast is also made good use of with the likes of Pixx, DMA's and The Amazons all making appearances.

Oh, did I forget to mention that Richard Hawley's playing Grand Central Hall too? Testament to the strength of the line up, eh?

All tickets for the FOURTEEN shows taking place around Liverpool between the 23rd and 31st of this month are available here
