SOON #04

In this section we try to bring you the most exciting sounds from the North West and beyond. Some we found by scouring around the few remaining independent venues in Manchester and Liverpool, some we found on bandcamp and a few we came across through people emailing us their music. Regardless, they're who we think will be melting your brain very soon. The SOON section of the zine is the only section that is instantly available online, other content will go online after the issue is published.

Name: Grubs.
From: Bristol.
About: Infectious pop courtesy of an all-star cast of Two White Cranes and Joanna Gruesome, Grubs is the sound of some of the UK's most exciting underground creatives coming together and making music without any kind of reputation to live up to, and their record is great.
For Fans Of: Trust Fund, effortlessly great lyricism, delicate guitar lines.
Not For Fans Of: Rush, heavy production.
Key Track: Work in Progress.
Live: Announcing some shows soon, keep yr eyes peeled.

Name: Martha
From: Durham
About: If you're going to listen to one pop punk band, it should be Martha. The corny fake American accents are scrapped for North Eastern England accents whilst the instrumentation is much easier to get excited about than it is with most pop punk bands. Oh, and they're all vegan too!!
For Fans Of: Weezer, incredible hooks, great accents
Not For Fans Of: You Me At Six, winding guitar solos
Key Track: Present, Tense
Live: The Cavern, Exeter on the 12th of November

Name: Blueprint Blue.
From: South London.
About: Forget 60's revival, this is 60's-tinged renaissance. Blueprint Blue tie together 1960's influenced winding guitars and flawless melodies with some of the most relevant lyricism on offer at the moment, genuinely stunning.
For Fans Of: The Band, The Grateful Dead, David Crosby, S.C.U.M (they're mostly ex-members).
Not For Fans Of: generic landfill white indie rock.
Key Track: Hangman.
Live: Migrants Welcome Fundraiser Show at The Moth CLub, London (you should REALLY go to this and donate as much as possible if you can).

Name: Strange Collective.
From: Liverpool.
About: Mesmerizing garage rock group that use jittery and repetitive guitar lines to lure you in to a false sense of security before blowing your head off with louder than anything, distorted yet stupidly catchy choruses.
For Fans Of: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Parquet Courts, Ty Segall, Pond
Not For Fans Of: Quiet shows, dreamy textures, headspace.
Key Track: Sun.
Live: Liverpool Psych Fest on the 26th of September w/ Spiritualized, Hookworms, Jane Weaver and K-X-P
