Bill Ryder-Jones Marks Return With Wonderful 'Two to Birkenhead' Track

Whilst great bands seem to come and go, Bill Ryder-Jones is one of Liverpool's few reliable sources of great music. Since the days of The Coral, he's gone on to hone his sound with film scores, a couple of solo records and a bunch of shows with Arctic Monkeys.

This, his latest single 'Two to Birkenhead', is perhaps his best work yet and sets up his forthcoming record 'West Kirby County Primary' to be one of the best LPs of the year. 2013's 'A Bad Wind Blows in My Heart' felt like a solo record, but all the signs point to a more collaborative effort this time around, with a re-imagined slacker-rock Ryder-Jones playing with a full band in the video for the single. The song itself features some gorgeous 90's alternative guitar work that kind of recalls the likes of Pavement and Galaxie 500, whilst BRJ's direct lyricism acts as a heartfelt ode to daydreaming on trains and to his hometown("Take me somewhere I'm not likely to forget/Two singles to Birkenhead/Two thimbles in need of thread").

Having built up his production CV with the likes of The Wytches and Hooton Tennis Club over the last twelve or so months, Bill Ryder-Jones has marked his return as a songwriter with quite possibly his best track yet, and it's hard not to get excited about his upcoming record.
